The Simha Vratam contains no arduous or complicated procedures, but simple methods of worship that are easily practicable to one and all. The LakshmiNṛsimha Mālā Deekshā, also called the Simha Vratam, is a very sacred Vratam in worship of Lord ŚRI YANTRARĀJA VAJRASTAMBHAJA LAKSHMINARASIMHA SWĀMY, the presiding deity of Sri Kshetra Hariharapura. Thus, at the holy Kshetra of Hariharapura, as proclaimed by Sastras ‘stambhavat drśyate Hari:’, the Lord resides on the glorious Vajra Stambha Maha Yantra as YANTRA RAJA VAJRA STAMBHAJA LAKSHMINṚSIMHA SWAMY and showers His Divyaanugraha on all ! SIMHA VRATAM–THE SACRED WORSHIP OF ŚRINṚSIMHA ! Pertaining to this Saastra Vaakya, Śrikshetra Hariharapura becomes the only place in the whole world that enshrines the LakshmiNarasimha Yantra in form of a STAMBHA (called the YANTRA RAJA VAJRA STAMBHA) in such a manner that Lord SriLakshmiNrsimha dwells on the Bindu Staanam (centre point) of this magnificent Stambha. This is because, during the Nrsimha Avatara, it is the Stambha that was the Maatru Staanam of the Lord. Even though the Supreme Lord Lakshminrsimha is Sarvavyaapi (omnipresent), our Sastras establish that, the presence of Lord SriNrismha in a Stambha is specially intense and powerful. “sarvagopi stambhavāsa:” - Our Sastras glorify the worship of Lord ŚriNṛsimha in a Stambha (Pillar). Hariharapura has thus been a very holy place permeated by the Divya Sannidhya (presence) of Lord Śri LakshmiNṛsimha since time immemorial. The LakshmiNrsimha Moorthy (deity) and Shalagrama worshipped by Agastya Maharishi are still being worshipped at the temple here. As per the Sthala Purana, Sage Agastya had performed intense penance and was blessed with the Prathyaksha Darshanam of Lord ŚriLakshmiNṛsimha at Hariharapura. It is also home to the renowned Dharmapeetam of SRI ADI SHANKARACHARYA SHARADA LAKSHMINARASIMHA PEETAM, directly established by Jagadguru Sri Adi Shankaracharya. Hariharapura is an ancient Nṛsimha Kshetra located at the banks of the holy Tunga River.
